A Mother’s Perdition

Her nightmares stopped after he died
But not those of her children.
Their nightmares raged:
Running from kidnappers, fear and death.
Who knew fairy tales about monsters are true?
Who knew monsters may be college deans and presidents –
Entrusted with the care of the students –
But instead creating
Infernos and entropy
For the very children
Their duty is to protect –
And perdition for their families.
As graceful, wise and pure
As he was –
Her young son’s suicide note
She read aloud at his memorial.
Heartbreaking as Trey Malone’s –
A fellow college boy-
His words made the strongest souls weep.
His mother will remain calm
For the sake of the children:
Unlike Chaucer’s Prioress.

End.
